Poland PREPARATION ACTIVITIES
We held a meeting where Ms. Magdalena Szewczyk briefed us on the objectives and tasks of the GREEN WARDROBE project. Everyone actively participated and shared responsibilities for the upcoming tasks. To gain a deeper understanding of the subject, we embarked on visits to second-hand clothing stores, immersing ourselves in the realm of sustainable fashion.
Additionally, we meticulously planned an event centered around clothing exchange in rural areas. This event is scheduled to take place post-project, aiming to promote community involvement and sustainable fashion practices.
In terms of clothing recycling methods, there are several approaches we're exploring:
- Upcycling: This involves transforming old or unwanted clothing items into new products of higher quality or value, thereby extending their lifespan and reducing waste.
- Textile Recycling Facilities: We're researching local facilities equipped to recycle textiles. These facilities utilize advanced techniques to break down old clothing into raw materials that can be used to create new textiles or other products.
- Donation Centers: Donating unwanted clothing to charity or thrift stores not only reduces waste but also provides affordable clothing options for others in need.
- Composting: Natural fibers such as cotton and linen can be composted at specialized facilities, contributing to soil health and reducing landfill waste.
By incorporating these recycling methods into our project, we aim to promote a circular economy approach to fashion, where clothing is reused, repurposed, or recycled, minimizing its environmental impact while maximizing its utility.
